Great Death gives way
to violent wildness
Glittering roots, spreading their bronze
and copper histories
invade anise and coriander
The green reed wailing on the hill—
dismembered, blade by blade
Blazing jealous wind, a catalyst that renders
pyres of tender lilac blossoms
Magic Wildness
willful in her primordial sorcery
Carving empty enormities
in the lonely psyche of dawn
A freakish naked scar
Spinning the animal tribes
round and round
Glorious “amid lanes and through old woods”
clockwise and counter-clockwise turning
